I read an article by
John Philipp
who in my humble opinion is one of the funniest writers on
Gather. I love
to read his articles because they usually guarantee a good laugh.
The article I read is titled "Got the world by the
TB's" which of course launched my
brain into pondering another topic not even remotely related to his
article. It can’t be helped. Tell me one thing and my head goes off
in a different direction.
It got me thinking about insurance and all
the conditions they write into policies. Maybe it’s been all the
storms lately and all the damage being inflicted on peoples
property. Anyway, I don't know if they do this anymore but some of
you might remember this disclaimer. The disclaimer reads something
like: This policy is null and void if injury, death or accident is
determined to be a direct result of an Act of War, Natural Disaster,
or Act of God.
Now my questions are...what type of
accident, injury or death did they expect to be an act of God? I
don't recall them stating exactly what types of incidents would fall
within this category. Or...were they just hedging their bets in the
event of some inexplicable incident that didn't fall under War or
Natural Disaster?
